As our State Representative, Ryan has worked hard to address everyone's concerns with the rising cost of healthcare. That's why he has supported initiatives that require coverage for pre-existing conditions, pushed to make prescription drugs more affordable, and worked to increase access to both general and mental health care.
In addition, he is focused on addressing the state's opioid epidemic and successfully worked to pass a bipartisan, comprehensive approach that provides increased treatment for those trapped in addiction, works with the medical community to prevent over-prescribing of opioids, and gets tough on those pushing these drugs illegally.
Ryan successfully wrote and passed a law that is helping to save the lives of women and their babies through better identification of the causes of pregnancy-related deaths and actions to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
He also authored a law requiring emergency responders to take stroke victims to the nearest stroke center qualified to treat the severity and type of stroke occurring. Dr. Darryn Sha, Chief of Nuerointerventional Radiology at Lehigh Valley Health Network, said of the law that it is the "first step to getting the right patient, to the right care, at the right time."
